Frequently Asked Questions

Hope Translator leverages cutting-edge AI technology to deliver practical translation solutions for organizations worldwide. We've designed our platform to be accessible and effective for groups of all sizes. If you have specific questions not covered here, we'd love to hear from you!

Getting Started

Does Hope Translator work with our sound system?

Yes! Hope Translator is designed to work with virtually any sound system. The key is having a clear audio feed that captures the speaker's voice. Our system adapts to your existing setup rather than requiring you to change your current sound system.

For detailed instructions on connecting to sound mixers, see our How to Connect Hope Translator to a Sound Mixer guide.

What if we don't have a professional sound system?

No worries! Hope Translator works with any audio output from your service. Whether you're using a smartphone on the lectern, a clip-on microphone, or even a basic PA system, we can capture and translate the audio effectively.

We strongly recommend using a wireless microphone for the best transcription and translation accuracy. Wireless microphones provide cleaner audio input, which directly improves both transcription quality and translation results.

You can even broadcast from our mobile app, which is particularly useful for small groups and outdoor services.

For detailed guidance on achieving accurate transcription and translation, see our comprehensive guide: How to Get Accurate Transcription and Translation.

For recommendations on the best wireless microphones for translation work, check out our Top 5 Wireless Microphones for Live Translation guide.

For step-by-step instructions on broadcasting from your mobile device, see our Broadcast Live with Hope Translator guide.

Can my audience listen to the translation?

Yes, your audience can read and listen to the translation in real time on their mobile device. We recommend using a headset for the best audio experience.

For step-by-step instructions on setting up live translation for your audience, see our How to Listen to Live Translation guide.

What is a broadcast?

A broadcast is the ability to share live translation with others in real time. When you start a broadcast, you can invite your audience to join via QR code or link, and they'll receive live transcription and translation as you speak.

For detailed instructions on how to set up and run a broadcast, see our How to Broadcast Live Translation guide.

Do my attendees need to create an account?

No. Attendees never need to sign up or create an account. They simply scan a QR code or open a link on their device and the translation starts immediately in their chosen language. Only the organizer (the person running the broadcast) needs an account.

Does Hope Translator work on iOS and Android?

Yes. Hope Translator has free mobile apps for both iOS and Android. Attendees can also follow along directly in their mobile browser — no download required. The app is recommended for the best experience, and organizers can use it to broadcast directly from their phone without any extra equipment.

Download the app at hopetranslator.com/download.

What if I just want the translation service for myself to use?

Use the solo mode. We recommend our mobile app for that, which provides a convenient way to get personal translation without sharing with others.

Can I use Hope Translator for hearing impaired audience?

Yes, we already have some organizations using Hope Translator specifically for that reason. Using our web or mobile app, hearing impaired attendees can adjust their font size and see live captions/transcription in real time.

No need to spend money on expensive devices and plans- try our simple, affordable pricing instead.

For detailed instructions on setting up real-time captions for deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees, see our Real-Time Captions Guide.

Can I share the transcription or translation on the screen?

Yes, you can open a webpage on your browser and share that. You can adjust the font, use dark mode, or hide the transcription so that only the translated text shows.

For detailed instructions on screen sharing and display options, see our Live Translation and Screen Sharing guide.

How can I test Hope Translator before using it in a live event?

The best way to test Hope Translator is with real content that matters to you. We recommend using your favorite YouTube videos - like sermons, graduation speeches, or conference talks - to experience the full capabilities of live translation technology.

For a complete step-by-step testing guide that covers everything from web console setup to mobile app integration and AI voice features, see our How to Test Live Speech Translation guide.

Translation Capabilities

What languages does Hope Translator support?

Hope Translator supports over 40 output languages for live speech translation. Most languages include both live translated text and audio output (text-to-speech). A small number of languages are text-only, meaning listeners can read the translation on screen but audio playback is not yet available.

For the full list of supported languages and details on which ones include audio output, see our Supported Languages guide.

What languages can the speaker use?

The speaker can be transcribed in over 30 languages, including multiple regional variants of English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese. Supported input languages include English (US, UK, Australian, Indian), Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Hindi, Russian, Ukrainian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Thai, and many more.

Input and output languages are independent — for example, a speaker can present in Korean while the audience listens in English, Spanish, Japanese, and any other supported output language simultaneously.

Does Hope Translator work with music?

Music translation presents unique challenges due to rhythm, rhyme, and cultural context requirements. While Hope Translator excels at spoken content, musical translation is more complex. Some organizations have achieved success by isolating vocal tracks, though the translated lyrics may not perfectly match the original melody. For the best experience, we recommend focusing on spoken portions of your event.

For advanced audio routing to help isolate vocal tracks, see our Live Translation and Loopback Audio Routing guide.

How accurate is the automated translation?

While no automated translation system achieves perfect accuracy, Hope Translator significantly enhances accessibility for your audience. Most organizations find that participants go from understanding very little to engaging meaningfully with the majority of the content. The technology continues to improve, and we're committed to delivering the best possible translation quality.

For a real-world example, read about how a small Korean church successfully implemented Hope Translator for their weekly events, helping non-Korean speakers understand and participate.

Can Hope Translator handle complex theological language?

Absolutely! Modern translation technology is specifically designed to process sophisticated language structures. Whether your speakers use theological terminology, academic language, or complex sentence structures, Hope Translator can handle it. For optimal results, ensure you're providing the clearest possible audio feed to support accurate transcription.

Pricing & Usage

How does the free trial work?

We offer a free 30 minutes of translation time per month so you can experience Hope Translator in your actual environment. Our flexible pricing starts at a low monthly cost, making it accessible for individuals and organizations of all sizes.

For detailed pricing information and plan options, visit our Pricing page.

How can you offer such low prices when others charge so much more?

We built our platform on the latest AI models, which let us deliver top-quality performance at a fraction of the cost. Because we’re a lean team with minimal overhead, we can keep prices low. Our mission is to make advanced translation accessible and affordable for individuals and small organizations- not just large enterprises.

What's the maximum duration for translation streams?

There is no maximum duration limitation for translation streams. As long as you have minutes available in your plan—or Translator Credits on Stream Scale and higher—you can run translation services for as long as needed. This flexibility allows organizations to accommodate events of any length without interruption.

What are Translator Credits?

Translator Credits are extra live-translation time you can buy after the hours in your plan run out. They are available on Stream Scale and higher. 60 credits equal 1 hour for each language your audience chooses (about USD $3.00 per hour, or $0.05 per minute). Credits are used only after your subscription included hours are used up, and they never expire. Buy them from Translator Credits checkout or see pricing.

How many people can join a broadcast?

It depends on your plan. Stream Starter and Stream Growth have set phone caps (up to 10 or 50). Stream Scale and Stream Enterprise allow unlimited readers—anyone can read the translation on their phone—with listen caps of 100 or 1,000. Confirm current limits on the pricing page. See also Can Hope Translator scale?.

Can I invite others to join my account?

Yes, our plans allows you to invite others and host multiple users on your account. This feature is perfect for organizations with multiple staff members or volunteers who can help with the translation services.
